NEW LEADER TRAINING

Thank You for Volunteering to Become an Adult Leader
Thank you for giving your time and leadership to Scouting. Trained leaders help create safe, engaging experiences where Scouts develop skills, build confidence, explore the outdoors, and grow as leaders. Your commitment makes these experiences possible, and we appreciate your service to the Atlanta Area Council.

How To Become a Trained Leader
Step 1: Set Up a My.Scouting Account
Visit My.Scouting.org and create an account. If you used online registration to register your child, you may already have an account. Once signed in, you can access online training through the BSA Learn Center.

Step 2: Complete S.A.F.E. Guarding Youth Training
Scouting America places the highest priority on providing a safe environment for youth. Leaders must complete S.A.F.E. Guarding Youth Training as part of becoming trained for their position. Training is available through the Scouting America Learn Center at My.Scouting.org.
Step 3: Complete Position-Specific Training
Position-Specific Training prepares you for your particular leadership role. Depending on the position, training may be completed online through the BSA Learn Center or through instructor-led training offered by the Atlanta Area Council.

Ways to Access Training
Online Training:
Sign in to My.Scouting.org, select your program and position, and follow the learning plan created for your role. Training modules can be completed at your own pace.
Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters must also complete the in-person overnight Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) course.
