A Scouting Paradise in the North Georgia Mountains

Land acquisition for the Robert W. Woodruff Scout Reservation began in 1975 and took nearly three years to complete, bringing together 30 parcels to create the 1,575-acre property near Blairsville. The final parcel was acquired in late 1978, and development progressed quickly enough for Woodruff to welcome Scouts for its first summer camp in 1980. Named for distinguished Atlanta businessman and philanthropist Robert W. Woodruff, the camp was formally dedicated on July 19, 1981.

Today, Woodruff Scout Camp continues that legacy amid the North Georgia mountains, adjacent to Nottely Lake and the Chattahoochee National Forest. With an 86-acre mountain lake, wooded campsites, hiking trails, and access to nearby destinations including the Appalachian Trail, Cohutta Wilderness, and renowned whitewater rivers, Woodruff welcomes thousands of Scouts and Scouters each year for summer camp, weekend camping, training, and year-round Scouting programs.
