A Century of Scouting Adventure
The story of Bert Adams Scout Camp reaches back to the earliest years of Scouting in Atlanta. In the 1920s, Atlanta Council President Albert S. "Bert" Adams helped acquire property near Vinings for a permanent Scout camp. Adams died in 1926 before the camp was completed, and the council voted unanimously to name the new camp in honor of the leader who had helped make it possible. Bert Adams Scout Camp was officially dedicated on June 11, 1927.
For 33 years, generations of Scouts camped at the original property before Bert Adams moved to its present location near Covington following the 1960 summer season. Today, the camp continues the legacy that began a century ago, giving new generations of Scouts a place to explore the outdoors, develop skills, build friendships, and create their own chapters in the continuing story of Bert Adams.
