CUB SCOUTS LEADER TRAINING

Every Scout Deserves a Trained Leader.

Cub Scout Leader Position-Specific Training gives Cub Scout leaders the knowledge and skills needed to deliver a quality program in their specific role on the pack leadership team, whether serving as a Cubmaster or Assistant Cubmaster, Den Leader or Assistant Den Leader, or Committee Chair or Committee Member.

These in-person courses cover the same requirements as the online Cub Scout Leader Position-Specific Training, with the exception of Hazardous Weather Training. Many leaders find the in-person experience more engaging and rewarding because it provides opportunities to meet other leaders, ask questions, and share ideas and experiences.

A recording of the May 25, 2022 Cub Scout Leader Training conducted via Zoom is available in six parts on YouTube.

To be considered trained, Den Leaders, Assistant Den Leaders, Cubmasters, and Assistant Cubmasters must also complete Youth Protection Training and online Hazardous Weather Training through My.Scouting.

Cub Scout Camping Training

While not required to be considered a trained Cub Scout leader, Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) provides the training leaders need to conduct fun and safe Cub Scout overnight camping experiences. Packs are required to have at least one BALOO-trained adult present at every Cub Scout den or pack overnight outdoor event, including pack camping and Webelos den overnighters.
